Very simple. To turn your power off a tech comes by your house and collects THEIR meter. Once it is unplugged the flow of power to your house is cut. IF YOU JUMP THE CONNECTION to give your house power that is stealing and they will have you arrested !

I located a pole out on some abandoned land which has a sweet fat Bruce Jenner sitting out there all cold and lonely... Got the face cut put in with my chainsaw today and will make the back cut by hand at night. For shits and giggles I'm going to use the system I use for launching my ham radio antenna wires into trees, to lob a fine copper wire up and over the two high wires and hopefully NOT cause some massive phase to phase laterally traveling arcs. Either way will be fine with me. Sometimes you must risk it for the biscuit to achieve greatness. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ROUTE OF ACQUISITION TO ANYONE! Guaranteed prison if caught. These are super great meters along with the Ge Aclara KV which is my 2nd favorite meter. I remember when this was ABB A1D i think it came out in 1992 or 94. Then went to Elster in 2005 i believe, and then bought by Honeywell a few yrs ago. Really nothing has changed much with these meters since the abb days. Maybe just the nameplate which i really like now vs the Abb one. Looks as if Elster scribes the info into the white plastic. All around great meter.
